The Home Security Service was established in 1994 as part of the 'Action Plan for Safer Sutton' and works in partnership with the London Borough of Sutton and the Metropolitan Police.
The service aims to reduce the level of burglary and to lower the fear of crime amongst older people within the London borough of Sutton. To do this Age Concern Sutton Borough provides a "low cost" lock fitting service providing good quality door and window locks, spy holes, door chains and smoke alarms and can advise on simple but effective crime prevention measures. The service is available to everyone over the age of 55.
Following a referral the client will be visited at home by Richard Young - Age Concern Sutton Borough's own Home Security Officer to assess what devices are required, they will then be given written details of the work suggested and an estimate of the cost.
Richard carries a large selection of Police Crime Prevention literature, as well as other items such as "Bogus Visitor" stickers for the inside of front doors.
Home visits can be arranged by telephoning 020 8770 4097. This number is staffed from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday, after which time a message can be left on the answerphone and will be dealt with as soon as possible.
Alternatively the office can be contacted at 2 Lower Square Civic Centre St Nicholas Way
